Indian Committee
The Native American Indian Committee is one of the smallest and most unique Cheyenne
Frontier Days' committees. The Chairman, Lead Assistants, coordinators and volunteers
support six standing sub-committees: Native Americans/Education, Pancake Breakfast,
Vendors, Village, Royalty, and Social Activities.
The Indian Committee has several areas of responsibility. One of its primary responsibilities
is the maintenance, improvement, and operation of the Indian Village located at
the southeast corner of Frontier Park. The Committee is constantly working to improve
the functionality and appearance of the Village. During Frontier Days, the Village
is a hub of free public entertainment -- from vendors, kids' crafts and free educational
demonstrations, to numerous dance, flute and story-telling performances each day.
Committee volunteers arrange for all the entertainment and vendors, and are on hand
each day to host the activities.
The Committee also partners with the Cheyenne Kiwanis Club and the City of Cheyenne
to plan, organize, and supervise the free Pancake Breakfasts held downtown at the
Depot Plaza on Monday, Wednesday and Friday during Frontier Days. Over 30,000 people
will enjoy pancakes, ham and down-home entertainment during the three breakfasts.
Last, but not least, the Committee supports the Cheyenne Frontier Days' royalty
--Miss Frontier and her Lady-in-Waiting. The Royalty Coordinator and volunteers
assist with the public relations/marketing trips, media functions, and public appearances
these remarkable young women attend during their reign.
The Native American Indian Committee is an integral part of the western celebration
we call the "Daddy of 'Em All", Cheyenne Frontier Days. The Committee is family
oriented and consists of volunteers from various walks of life, all working toward
making Cheyenne Frontier Days the best large outdoor rodeo in America.
