Texas Barrel Racer is Loving Wyoming

CHEYENNE, Wyo. --- Annesa Self, from Valley View, Texas, is loving competing in the barrel racing in the great state of Wyoming.

She won rodeos in Casper and Sheridan riding her great buckskin horse earlier this month. She came to Cheyenne and won the first round of the "Daddy of 'em All" with a blazing fast run of 17.46 seconds. They made their second appearance here on Sunday, and while their time was two tenths of a second slower, they have a commanding lead in the over-all standings. Self has a total of 35.12 seconds compared to Shelly Anzick, from Livingston, Mont., who has a time of 35.89. Anzick also ran Sunday and is tied with Jody Hale, from Echo, Ore.

Jesse Bail was very busy here on Sunday. He was scheduled to compete here on Saturday, but qualified for the final round at the Snake River Stampede in Nampa, Idaho. So, instead of riding in the second round of saddle bronc and bull riding on Sunday, Bail competed in both. He took the lead in the first round of bull riding with a 91-point ride. He then scored 74 and 79 in saddle bronc riding before getting on his second bull of the day. Bail rode the bull for eight seconds but the judges didn't feel the bull had a trip that gave him a fair opportunity so awarded him a re-ride. He accepted the option and got on the bull named Red Eyes owned by Triple V Rodeo Company. Red Eyes had an outstanding day and bucked Bail off early in the ride. The Camp Crook, S.D., cowboy is now hoping to qualify for the finals here in saddle bronc riding and waiting to see if enough bull riders buck off to get him back in bull riding on one ride. He is still an all-around contender here and will get a good check in the first round of bull riding regardless.

The third performance will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday.
