Traffic Pattern around Frontier Park To Change for 2007 Celebration

The Cheyenne Frontier Days General Committee has worked this year with city officials to develop a new traffic pattern around Frontier Park to minimize cross-traffic entering the park. In addition to efficient traffic flow, the goal of this new traffic pattern is to improve safety for City of Cheyenne employees and Cheyenne Frontier Days volunteers.

The new traffic pattern around Frontier Park calls for RIGHT TURNS ONLY into and out of Frontier Park parking areas; this one-directional traffic pattern is designed to help reduce personnel exposure to traffic moving from outside lanes across inside lanes to park. Both city officials and the General Committee believe this new traffic pattern will aid in efficiently moving visitors on and off the park.

To access the right turn traffic pattern around Frontier Park, left turns will be permitted from Kennedy onto Carey Avenue, from Carey Avenue onto 8th Avenue and from other Avenue streets onto 8th Avenue. In addition, traffic will flow through the V-10 gate off of Carey Avenue one-way only. Contestants and volunteers who normally use this gate will now depart the park using the V-12 gate along Hynds Blvd.

Over the past year the City of Cheyenne has also implemented a new traffic pattern along 8th Avenue in front of Frontier Park. There will now be a turn lane for our customers seeking disabled services, and sponsors and Frontier Club members to use when accessing B-Lot (V-4 Gate) on the park. We will introduce a drop-off and pickup point along 8th Avenue for parents to use when bringing their children to the park. We will also introduce a taxi and hotel shuttle drop-off area along 8th Avenue in front of the shuttle bus drop-off area to support visitors using these transportation services. Further down 8th Avenue there will also be an area marked for City Bus drop-off and pickup. On the other side of the access gate (V-1) for vendors, there will be a curb side parking area for tour bus drop-off and pickup.
